Directorships and Appointed Positions

President

(President: Rob Stalker - president [at] cses.carleton.ca)

Council Chair: Acts as speaker during regular meetings, while ensuring that council follows Robert.s Rules of Order and our Constitution during said meetings. The chair is also responsible for distributing the agenda before meetings to council.

Diversity Director: Responsible for organizing CSES events that reach out to those members who don.t take full advantage of the resources. This includes alternate events that introduce the Society to people who may not know a great deal about us.

Tunnel Painting Director: Responsible for ensuring the revival of the CSES tunnel painting, including soliciting designs, and working with Physical Plant to secure approval.

Trophy Display Director: Responsible for overhauling the CSES trophy case, as well as how awards and plaques are displayed in the office.

Vice-President Finance

Treasury Director: The CSES Treasurer Director is responsible for verifying the integrity of all numbers related to CSES finances.

Student Group Funding Director: The CSES Student Group Funding (SGF) Director is responsible for creating a list of all submitted SGF proposals, and presenting them at a closed meeting to CSES Council once per semester.

Vice-President Internal

Council Clerk: He or she shall be a non-voting member of the CSES Executive. Responsibilities include attending all meetings of the members, the CSES Council and the Executive, recording and keeping updated minutes of all meeting proceedings which include and are not restricted to all votes and motions, as well as making these minutes readily available to the CSES members.

Chief Electoral Officer: This director is responsible for running all CSES elections. The Vice President Internal will be the assistant CEO to make sure things run smoothly. The CEO shall at all points in time have a detailed understanding of the CSES by-laws especially sections regarding election proceedings. He or she will be the main contact on behalf of CSES to all candidates in each respective election. This director is also responsible for creating and distributing nomination forms, a writ of election, gathering and compiling election votes and results, as well as dealing with infractions occurring during election proceedings.

Technical Director: Responsible for the CSES mailing lists, and the maintenance of all CSES computers (office, Leo's and SGRC). Experience with EngSoc, or the desire to get involved with them, would be an asset.

Awards and Pewter Mug Director: This director is responsible for year end awards as well as for pewter mugs usually given at Reflections. This includes creating and distributing nomination forms, gathering results from council votes, purchasing and engraving of plaques and pewter mugs, as well as printing of certificates.

Recruitment Director: Responsible for organizing the Student Group Fair (during EngFrosh), and the All Year Conference. Note that there is the possibility that these two events will be combined into one major recruitment event during the Academic Orientation day of EngFrosh.

Vice-President External

Charity Director: Responsible for deciding on a charity and what fundraisers to do. Will be continuing on with the LAN parties, penny drives, and any other fantastic fundraisers that arise.

Conference Director: Responsible for finding out about new conferences, helping the VP Ex register delegates and other conference preparation tasks under the portfolio.

Vice-President Social

Promotions Director: Responsible for the promotion of all CSES events, including those outside of the Department of the Vice-Presidents Social (such as elections or General Meetings).

Formal Events Director: Responsible for organizing CSES's formal events: Whirlwind and Reflections (under the direction of the Vice-Presidents Social).

Rural Outreach Director: Responsible for organizing rural outreach events, including selecting a venue, overseeing Facil recruitment, and securing transportation.

Athletics Director: Responsible for organizing and coordinating CENG involvement in campus intramurals. Also responsible for assisting the Vice-Presidents Social (or appropriate director) with the coordination of any events involving Carleton Athletics.

Family Fun Director: Responsible for the organization of any non-drinking events that do not fall under another portfolio, such as skating on the Canal.

Adult Fun Director: Responsible for the organization of any "of-age" events that do not fall under another portfolio, such as the Valentine's Day Pub. Also responsible for helping the other social directors if need be.

Vice-President Publications

Junior Editor for the Iron Times: Edits articles submitted to the CSES newspaper and aids in layout and column creation.

Director of Photography: Takes pictures at CSES events for use in CSES publications.

Webmaster: Oversees the creation and maintenance of the CSES website.

Vice-President Academic

(Nicole Waldrum - academic [at] cses.carleton.ca)

Vice-President Academic Director: Will help out with various task under the portfolio of VP Academic.

National Engineering Week (NEW) Chair: This director is responsible for organizing and coordinating national engineering week and its concerned events. Responsibilities include creating and directing a committee of volunteers for NEW, requesting funds from the provincial body called National Engineering Week Ontario Steering Committee (NEWOSC), as well as from CSES and general logistics of the week itself.

Design Competition Director: Responsible for running a variety of design competitions. Includes in-house competitions to determine what individuals or teams will represent Carleton at the Ontario Engineering Competition. May also include holding (or assisting NEW Committee with) a design competition open to CSES members during National Engineering Week. Prior experience at OEC would be an asset.

Study Lounge Manager: Responsible for monitoring MeCoy's Study Lounge, and ensuring that it remains an effective study location. Includes verifying that furniture is not disappearing, and arranging to replace anything that is missing or broken.

Exam Library Director: Responsible for managing the exam library, including ensuring all available exams are scanned into the library, and soliciting professors for new exams to add to the collection.

Textbook Library Director: Responsible for managing the textbook library, with emphasis on how to make it a useful and effective service for our members.

Interface Director: Responsible for investigating the feasibility of reviving Interface, the CSES career fair and industry event, in some form. Should investigations yield a positive result, this director shall then be charged with organizing an event to this effect.

Guest Speaker Director: Responsible for liaising with industry and/or Career Services to provide guest speakers, interesting workshops, and useful seminars.
